Ticket Regulation & Policy

It has been found necessary to issue guidelines to avoid problems such as traveling on different dates and times with the same ticket, traveling with a fake ticket, and traveling without a ticket. Accordingly, starting from January 16, 2016 .

1. Any train passenger found without a ticket or with an illegal or expired ticket will be fined 100.00 (one hundred birr).
2. A ticket is valid for one trip only and is no longer valid after passengers have disembarked from the train.
3. Sold tickets are non-refundable.
4. It is prohibited to carry any items that have flammable properties on the train.
5. Passenger tickets are subject to inspection at all times and passengers are required to show them to inspectors.
6. When found guilty, passengers will be asked to pay the fine immediately, and if they refuse to pay, they will be held legally accountable.
7. It is not permitted to carry items weighing more than seven kilograms.
8. In the event of disruption to rail services, passengers who have already purchased tickets will be given a stamp valid for one free journey on their ticket and must use it within two days of the service resuming. The ticket will not be valid after two days.
